Beyond its striking natural beauty, Milos is a volcanic island with a long and richly layered history. Its past includes wars, invasions, massacres, famine and stories of piracy, but also periods of peace and prosperity, when the island stood out for its culture, art and social organization.
The traditional architecture of Milos is the result of many different influences, including:
• The Cycladic architectural tradition, shaped by the climate, available materials, and the genius loci of the Cyclades
• The island’s own distinctive character
• Historical circumstances that brought together different people, traditions, and architectural influences

During the experience we offer :
1) Handouts with information about the history and architectural features special to traditional settlements.
2) A guided sketch tour on the villages.

3) Information about the history of the island, focusing on the characteristics of traditional architecture by observing and sketching architectural and artistic elements.

4) Access to traditional houses and sketch details.
5) Discussion of the general structure of the dwellings and their architectural details.
The day ends with a gathering of all participants for discussion and review of the sketches.
