Arch – Island workshops offer a fascinating tour of the traditional architecture on the Aegean islands.

This summer 2026 we are in Milos island.

The tour is led by two friends, an architect and an archaeologist passionate about sketching and drawing.

Workshop activities include onsite, plein air drawing, sketching or painting with a focus on the principles, changes and evolution of island’s architecture and history.

Arch_ISLaND is a workshop based on passion for sketching. Every participant could choose his own way to express himself trough sketching or drawing. We suggest a unique experience that combines holidays and knowledge through it’s “on site” design on natural space between original samples of the Aegean heritage.

This is an experience that links observation, comparison, measurement, imprinting, personal deepening.

The Workshop is guided, and taught by architect Vasilis Benetos, with experience in architectural design and dwelling recording.

An experience to get to know the basic principles or to improve the architectural sketch and drawing.

Groups are limited to a minimum of two and a maximum of eight people.

Τhe workshop is held in three languages: English, Italian and Greek.

Why do I sketch and draw “in-situ” ?

• Because the design allow us to think about buildings in depth rather than epidermal, just like a simple observation or a photo shooting.

• Because the process of drawing enable the brain to understand the building in a more direct way and to reproduce the same design path that gave birth to the building itself, making it rooted in the on-site experience.

• Because sketching is a powerful tool that frees up imagination and improves our ability to interpret reality.
